README

The map widget was copied from Premium Addons for Elementor and extended to meet our needs. CSS and JSS were minified with the following npm command: minify path/to/unminified/file > path/to/minified/file

Accessibility fixes (v1.8.5.7)

includes/a11y-fixes.php renders fleet ADA fixes server-side, replacing the per-site Elementor Custom Code snippet "Main tag add + Menu Roles + Unlabeled Links Fix" (delete that snippet on each site once 1.8.5.7 is live):

  • <main id="main"> around Elementor Header-Footer / Canvas template content (Astra's own templates already print one). Off: hip_a11y_main_landmark.
  • aria-label on icon-only links in Icon List, Icon, Button, Social Icons, Icon Box and Image widgets, derived from the link target (social networks, maps, reviews, tel/sms/mailto) or prev/next arrows (icon class, or the widget's t-left/t-right class). Never touches a link that already has visible text, an image alt or an aria-label. Off: hip_a11y_link_names; per-link override: hip_a11y_link_label; map: hip_a11y_link_label_map.
  • role="listitem" on Loop Grid items inside role="list" (elementor#32346). Off: hip_a11y_loop_listitem.
  • Inline CSS: Business Reviews Bundle owner replies no longer scroll (scrollable-region-focusable); Text Editor links underlined (link-in-text-block). Edit/remove via hip_a11y_css.
  • Deliberately no menu roles and no JS: Max Mega Menu follows the Disclosure pattern; role=menu/menuitem without menubar is what failed axe list
    • aria-required-parent on 132 sites.

Hip Maps widget (v1.8.5.6)

The map widget (maps/maps.php) supports two popup layouts, set per-widget via Content > Markers > Popup Layout:

  • Classic (Default) — the original Leaflet popup: title/description text plus an optional link, styled by the "Popup Style" section's Content Info / Close Icon groups. This is what every widget saved before the Custom Popup Template existed still uses.
  • Custom Template — a full HTML card (.location-card) built from a linked Location post's ACF fields (image, address, phone, link, CTA button), independently styleable via the rest of the "Popup Style" section. Style-tab control labels say which layout they affect.

Recent additions to the Custom Template:

  • Address and phone rows can each render as a real link ({{address_link}} → the Location's permalink or a chosen ACF link field; {{phone_link}} → a tel: link) instead of plain text, picked per field under the new "Popup Fields" content sections.
  • Per-pin optional Custom CSS Class field, and a per-location {{location_class}} template token, for targeting one specific pin's popup without editing the shared template.
  • Card/heading/image Border Radius controls are now per-corner; content alignment, image width/alignment, and a Phone Row Padding control (on top of the existing Row Padding) were added.
  • Classic popup's Info Box BG got a matching Info Box BG (Hover) control.
  • The CTA button now sits outside <ul class="location-info"> in the default template (it was previously the list's third <li>), so the "Row Padding" / "Gap Between Rows" controls -- which target .location-info li -- can no longer bleed into the button's own spacing. The button already has its own dedicated Padding/Margin controls, so nothing else changes.

Also in 1.8.5.6:

  • Popup Text Alignment control added; icon hover color-change now fades at the same 0.2s linear speed as the link text next to it, instead of snapping instantly.
  • WP Rocket's Remove Unused CSS is now told to keep the mobile nav's submenu accordion arrow (.hip-submenu-indicator-wrap/.fa-angle-down) and the map's Custom Popup Template classes -- both sit in markup that's hidden or absent at initial page load, which RUCSS's scan otherwise misses, breaking the icon/popup styling on sites with RUCSS enabled.

Style controls only emit CSS once a site sets a value, so none of the above changes anything on a widget that hasn't been touched. Likewise, "Custom Popup Template" is a normal per-widget Elementor control -- a site's saved widget keeps its own frozen copy of the HTML forever, so updating this plugin never rewrites what's already live. To pick up a default-template change (like the button move above) on an existing widget, open it in Elementor, go to Content > Custom Popup Template, and paste in the new default -- no plugin file ever needs editing per-site.
